Evans Nthiga Biography

About Evans Nthiga

Birth and Early Days of Evans

Evans Nthiga was born on 30th April 1987 in a small remote village called Sogoo in Narok District, Rift Valley Province in Kenya, where his mother was working as a primary school teacher then. He was raised by his mother, Juster Muthoni Nthiga. He spent the better part of his infant days in this part of the country but was later to see great exodus throughout his life. He started his education in Sogoo Primary School but was soon to move to another region due to social unrest and tribal differences in the area.

In 1992 Evans Nthiga together with his mother and a young sister, Faith Nyawira, moved to another part of Narok called Olopito. Two years were barely over when they moved again to yet another part of the same district called Oletukat. Here, he joined Standard Two, in 1994 and was glad to find stiff competition. As young as he was, he knew just too well that competition was to increase his level of achievement and to him, his position was none other than the top. This was to be so till his completion of the primary school education in the year 2000.

Education Background

Evans Nthiga completed his primary school at Oletukat Primary School in 2000, leaving behind a legacy as one of the best performers in the school’s history. He later joined Narok High School, where he kept on his undying spirit of achieving excellence. Although he may not be termed as the exceptional type, Evans tried his best to attain a high grade in an environment that least favored educational excellence. He became the second best student that year, and one among the four out of two hundred students that made it to the university.

He joined Maseno University in 2006 to study Education. He specialized in Mathematics and Geography and graduated with honors degree in 2010. Evans describes his life in college as his greatest eye opener. It is during this time that he realized his three areas of great passion – business, computing and helping/mentoring young people.

Career Life

A few months after graduating, Evans Nthiga had plunged himself in the career world, making major milestones and turning major stumbling blocks into stepping stones. His efforts began to be felt in the career world in his attachment station, Terige High School. Here, in a highly competitive environment, Evans tirelessly worked to find a way to improve the performance of his core subject, Mathematics. It is through this effort that a program was born in the school that saw all the students do an evaluation test every week. The administration of the school, being in full support of the program, came in to offer weekly rewards to the best performers.

Evans later joined Naivasha High School as a Mathematics and Geography teacher in September 2010. Here, he also made major contributions, introducing a totally new program of the Maths Period – 30 minutes dedicated to mathematics from 1.30 pm to 2.00 pm. He later quit the job in August 2011 to concentrate on his businesses. He however teaches at the school as a part-time volunteer teacher.

Business Undertakings

Evans Nthiga developed a passion for business as early as during his time in high school. At that time, he ran a small photography business right in school, with his mates as the customers, which did so well that he was able to help pay for his school fees for a year.

He has also tried his hand in agriculture, making a success that for someone his age would be termed as a major step. Agriculture is still his passion and he has a dream of owning a farm that will not be dependent on rain. His love for animals and fruits is his major drive towards large-scale farming.

Business Growth

His business dreams grew bigger and in his second year in university, he bought computers and other equipment and started a business offering computer services in the heart of Mbeere District. That was never to be successful but he did not lose his dream of such a business. Later that year, he transferred the business to Maseno, where he could monitor the progress. That was to be the genesis of a successful line of business.

Evans Nthiga now runs two companies. DigiWorld Company is a computer services company that provides a wide range of services from printing to computer maintenance.
